I do not take good care of my money and my daughter sees that. My mom has started to teach her about saving money, but this kit would help her understand why having a healthy relationship with money now, will help in the future. I would like to be financially aware of what she has and how to manage her money in a responsible why as she grows older.
It used to be the schools would teach our children about finance and household budgets as part of a home economics class; a necessity when I was a kid because parents talking about finances with children then was almost taboo as talking about sex. But, many schools these days don’t provide this in a mandatory class anymore, and even more are not even offering HomeEc as an optional course either. Teaching kids about budgeting and finance is pretty difficult when their parents were never really taught proper use of credit and savings, and those conversations are still considered taboo in many households. I dropped the ball with my eldest child; time we’re trying to make up for now, but you can bet we won’t make the same mistake with our younger children who are still at home.
Congratulations to Alysa Horsman, for winning the Financial Peace Jr Adventure Pack.
